I believe if you cook the peanut butter or any thing that has salmonella, over a 160 degrees it will kill salmonella. Instead of just thowing it all away they could have killed the salmonella by using it to bake cookies. One reason we can't eat raw eggs anymore. I still eat a few bites of raw cookie dough!
Just like the tomatoes last summer, they could have canned them, or cooked them. The world is already facing food shortages, and we keep throwing away food that can be saved.
Why are we now seeing such outbreaks? When I was a kid, you never heard of such things. Besides, before we started to over dose people on ATB's, our guts killed most of this kind of junk.
I'm not going to throw away any of my peanut butter, I'll just make a shit load of no bake cookies with it.
